Hooni's Diner

훈이네식당

Review

Near Hoehyeon Station, this small restaurant hides a home-style rice table that's hard to walk away from — if you don't want to wait, going right when it opens is the move.

The spicy stir-fried pork comes with plenty of onion and carrot, and the natural sweetness from the vegetables balances out the spicy seasoning — it's the kind of dish that disappears into a bowl of rice fast, with a sprinkle of sesame seeds finishing it off.

The stir-fried squid uses plump squid coated in a thick sauce, and spooning it over rice makes it hard to put the spoon down. Beyond the mains, the side dishes — cucumber kimchi, spinach namul, bean sprouts, stir-fried anchovies, and braised kidney beans — all taste like something made at home.
